8 Days Madagascar Baobabs and Lemur Safari
Experience the contrasting landscapes of Madagascar on an 8-day journey combining the iconic West with the lush Eastern rainforest.
Begin your adventure in Western Madagascar, a land of dramatic landscapes, endemic wildlife and extraordinary natural wonders. Discover the legendary Avenue of the Baobabs and explore the Kirindy Forest, one of the best places to encounter Madagascar’s unique wildlife.
Then, continue towards the green and tropical East, where rainforest, endemic flora and fascinating lemurs create a completely different atmosphere. Your journey ends in Andasibe, one of Madagascar’s most remarkable wildlife destinations.
The program currently proposes visits to Mantadia National Park and Analamazaotra Special Reserve, offering two different rainforest experiences.
However, for clients who prefer a more relaxed program, it is possible to visit only Analamazaotra, which is particularly renowned for its Indri-Indri and other lemur species. The program can therefore be adapted according to the client’s interests, physical condition and available time.

Transport Notes:
Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo
Upon arrival in Antananarivo, our team will warmly welcome you at Ivato International Airport and assist you with your transfer to the hotel.
Take the rest of the day to relax and recover from your journey, while getting ready for an exciting adventure through Madagascar’s contrasting landscapes, from the iconic West to the lush rainforests of the East.
Overnight at Tamboho on bed and breakfast or similar
Day 2: Antananarivo-Morondava - Kirindy
After breakfast, depending on your domestic flight schedule, our driver will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Morondava, gateway to Western Madagascar.
Upon arrival, our team will welcome you at the airport before continuing by 4×4 towards Kirindy Forest, approximately 60 km from Morondava.
The journey itself is part of the adventure: the road is rugged and largely unpaved, crossing beautiful landscapes and typical villages of the Menabe region. This off-the-beaten-track experience offers an authentic glimpse into rural Madagascar and local daily life.
Enjoy the changing scenery along the way as you gradually enter the dry forest of Kirindy, one of the most fascinating wildlife areas in Western Madagascar.
Dinner and Night at the Relais du Kirindy or equivalent (Half-board) Lodge
Day 03: Kirindy- Morondava
After breakfast, morning exploration of Kirindy Forest, one of the most remarkable dry forests of Western Madagascar. Accompanied by a local guide, discover its unique ecosystem and look for endemic wildlife, including lemurs, reptiles, birds and other species adapted to the dry forest environment.
Lunch at the hotel at your own expense.
In the afternoon, depart for Morondava, the capital of the Menabe region. Along the way, discover the legendary Avenue of the Baobabs, one of Madagascar’s most iconic landscapes.
Take time to admire these majestic trees, including the famous “Baobab Lovers” and twin baobabs, as the warm afternoon light gradually transforms the landscape.
The highlight of the day is the spectacular sunset over the Avenue of the Baobabs, an unforgettable moment in the heart of Western Madagascar.
Continue to Morondava and check in at your hotel.
Dinner and Night at the Palissandre Côte Ouest or equivalent (Half-board)
Day 4: Morondava -Antananarivo with Air Madagascar
After breakfast, enjoy your final moments in Morondava, the gateway to the extraordinary landscapes of Western Madagascar.
Depending on your domestic flight schedule, transfer to Morondava Airport for your flight back to Antananarivo.
Upon arrival in the capital, our team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel.
Take the rest of the day to relax before continuing your journey towards the lush rainforests and exceptional wildlife of Eastern Madagascar.

Day 5: Antananarivo - Andasibe:145 km
Early departure at around 8:00 a.m. towards Andasibe, travelling along National Road 2 through the lush and green landscapes of Eastern Madagascar. Enjoy the changing scenery and traditional villages along the way, with opportunities to stop for photographs.
Possibility to stop at Marozevo – Peyrieras Private Reserve can be arranged, approximately 1½ hours from Antananarivo. This optional visit offers the opportunity to discover Madagascar’s fascinating wildlife, including chameleons, iguanas, geckos, frogs, butterflies, crocodiles and lemurs such as Verreaux’s sifaka and brown lemurs.

Continue to Andasibe and check in at your hotel for two nights.
In the afternoon, discover the Vakona Private Reserve, including Vakona Island, a canoe ride to observe ring-tailed lemurs and a visit to the crocodile farm.
Before dinner, enjoy a night walk in the VOI reserve to search for Madagascar’s nocturnal wildlife, including small nocturnal lemurs, chameleons, frogs and other fascinating species.

Day 6: Andasibe Mantadia, half day visit of Mantadia National Park
After breakfast, drive approximately 12 km from Andasibe village to the entrance of Mantadia National Park, along a scenic unpaved road.
Mantadia offers a wilder and more untouched rainforest experience, ideal for travelers looking for adventure and a deeper immersion in nature. During the guided walk, explore primary forest, lush vegetation and hidden waterfalls, while keeping an eye out for endemic wildlife.
The park is particularly known for the possibility of observing the Diademed Sifaka and the Black-and-white Ruffed Lemur, among other species of Madagascar’s unique fauna.
Picnic lunch recommended – to be arranged independently through the hotel.
The afternoon is free to relax at the hotel or enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Andasibe.
Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge on bed and breakfast (or similar hotel) with hot water
Day 7: Andasibe Mantadia, half day walk inside the reserve special of Analamazaotra
After breakfast, drive to the Analamazaotra Special Reserve for a 3-hour guided walk through one of Eastern Madagascar’s most remarkable rainforest environments.
Analamazaotra is particularly famous for the Indri-Indri, the largest living lemur, which can be observed throughout the year. Explore the dense humid forest, home to orchids, ferns, mosses, lianas, pandanus, traveler’s palms, bamboo and other endemic plants.
The trails are relatively easy and mostly flat, making this visit accessible to travelers who prefer a comfortable nature experience.

After the visit, begin the drive back to Antananarivo, enjoying the final views of the lush landscapes and villages of Eastern Madagascar.

Day 8: Antananarivo- Out
After breakfast, enjoy your final moments in Antananarivo.
Depending on your international flight schedule, there may be an opportunity to visit a local handicraft market and discover Malagasy crafts, souvenirs and traditional products.
At the appropriate time, our driver will transfer you to Ivato International Airport (TNR) for your onward flight.
